The fruit for this wine was sourced from Kazmet Ranch, CCOF Organic Certified. These olderhead pruned vines are dry farmed, providing ripe concentrated flavors. Aroma of warm black berry pie, black plum, and fresh moist earth. Flavors of brambly berry, black plum, anise, nuts, with hints of sage. Medium-bodied, rich and round in the mouth with soft tannins and delicate acidity framing the long-lasting fruit on the palate. A small addition of Syrah (10%) adds a little tannin structure and complexity to the blend. Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels (20% new).

LAS PERSONAS Y EL LUGAR

Handley Cellars

Handley Cellars was founded by Milla Handley, the first female owner and winemaker to establish a winery under her own name. When Handley founded her winery in 1982, it was the same year Anderson Valley was granted AVA status and she was dubbed the "Pioneer Queen" of Anderson Valley AVA. Captivated by the valley's potential, Handley was drawn to the northwest corner of the region, or what the locals call the "deep end," where the valley narrows and follows the Navarro River to the Pacific Ocean. In 1986 she began planting her first vineyard, now 28 acres. The cool locale proved ideal for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Redwood Valley

The Redwood Valley is a small sub-AVA located in northern Mendocino County, California. Known for its higher elevation and cooler climate compared to surrounding areas, Redwood Valley benefits from cooler temperatures, especially at night, which promotes slower grape ripening and leads to balanced acidity and complex flavors in the wines.
