LAS PERSONAS Y EL LUGAR
Indigené Cellars
Indigené Cellars typically makes small batches using isolated clones, and Founder Raymond Smith closely monitors these barrels throughout the aging process to ensure the best result possible, given the fruit. Case counts are in the low hundreds, as hand punching and manual leaf and stem removal are part of this most tedious process. He is also a believer in cold fermentation to maximize the fruit's potential.
"With my wines you should take time and taste the nuance, don’t just drink the wine but taste the wines and enjoys the subtle notes that I prepared for your enjoyment." - Raymond Smith, Winemaker
Santa Lucia Highlands
This cooler region sits East of the Santa Lucia Mountain range where coastal breezes of fog and wind from Monterey Bay provide moderate temperatures. A slightly longer growing season provides slow and even ripening for each harvest.
