Caterwaul Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Sourced from an old-vine vineyard just over the Napa County line on the backside of Mount Saint Helena, our Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon continues to produce a complex wine. Ruby red color on the edges quickly plunges into a dark crimson. Fresh-crushed bright raspberry, dark plum, and black tea leap from elevated aromatics. On the palate this wine pulls no punches. A weighty, expressive mouthfeel shows structure and complexity across the tasting experience. Chewy tannins frame notes of dark cherry, sandalwood, blackcurrant, and dried herbs de Provence. The depth of the mid palate creates a runway for a long, seamless finish. A brightness on the back end shows the balance of the vintage and ties to initial aromatics, completing the circuit and signaling time for the next sip. We hope to pass along the quality and value given by this unique site in this special bottling.

Caterwaul Wines

A partnership between Matt Hardin and Thomas Brown was formed during the 2014 vintage after countless years of working together. Out of that friendship the idea of utilizing the strengths of one another gave birth to Caterwaul wines. Matt Hardin, a 6th generation Pope Valley resident and farmer, is owner of Hardin Vineyard Management, one of the most renowned vineyard management companies in Northern California as well as his own Matthew Wallace Wines. Thomas Rivers Brown, winemaker for some of Napa and Sonoma’s most iconic labels (Schrader Cellars, Outpost and his own Rivers-Marie & Aston), has more than 50 100-point wines to his resume.

Sonoma County

Sonoma AVA with 18 sub American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) is most known for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, but it grows many of California’s 100-plus grape varieties.
